Yesterday I received my first rejection letter from a publisher.
I'm actually pretty happy about this.
Why, you ask?
Well, because at least I'm doing it and not just talking about sending my stuff out to the publishers. I'm actually sending my stuff out to the publishers and being rejected.
I plan to start a binder and house all my rejection letters in it. Because let's face it, there's going to be a lot of 'em.
Maybe I should keep the binder right next to the shelf that I plan to display my writing award. It will keep me humble.
As if a single gal needs any more humility given to her on any single day, but still. It'll be good.
Life is good.
Life is a verb.
Let's hear it for life.

As I understand it, having a few friends of mine who are writers and/or journalists, you'll get 100 rejections for every 1 publisher who will be willing to take a chance on you. That's the nature of the biz. Forever forward my dear. :)
Sorry for the rejection letter!
well at least you are actually submitting stuff. I've been self publishing for years and always swearing I'll get off my ass and actually put my stuff together for submission...I don't think the day will ever come that I do. Good luck
So what is your writing stuff about. Should I email you so you can send it to me directly for my reading pleasure?
Jay: Yep, that's why I ain't getting my panties in a bunch over it. I say bring 'em on cause at least I'm doing it and getting my stuff out there! Thanks for the well wishes!
Camilla: thanks, but again at least I'm doing it.
Stoopidgirl: yep, and thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you again!
dating: I will always remember my first readers
MrHinge: I write mostly creative non-fiction. Funny, sad, sexual, emotional, odd, or life altering in someway, type essays/short stories. Honest, open, and sometimes incredibly raw stories.
I've recently tried my hand at fiction and I'm working on a few things now. One of which could easily turn into a book. Who knows, we'll see. I'm not pushing it or rushing it. My writing process is best describe as; I need to get a sentence out, or I think something would be funny to write about. I type out the sentence I need to get down and many times that one sentence will turn into 3-5 pages and then it just goes from there.
Anyway, thanks for asking. Thanks for offering to read them. Who knows, I just might take you up on the offer of proof reader.
girlg: excellent, excellent point. I hadn't even thought of that!
