Remember when the most romantic thing you could do for, or get from, someone was a mixed tape?
A mixed tape meant, 'Yeah he likes me.' or 'Yeah, I'm diggin' her.'
A mixed tape takes a lot of time. There's the thought of what to put on it, what order each song should be on the tape. The time to find, record and have everything placed just so. The boy being in his room looking for each selection, telling everyone to leave him alone so he could record it. The gesture of the time is takes to make a special mixed tape for a girl.
Yeah, a mixed tape.
(I have such a grin on my face right now)
I miss getting mixed tapes.
I don't think I appreciated the gesture enough when I was in high school. (sigh)

still a nice gesture, but it's easier do make a CD than a tape. You don't have to sit and wait for it to be over or lock yourself in a quite place. Still nice though.
I can remember making those tapes - they did take so much time. Sitting there working up a song list, making sure you hit PAUSE at the right time, setting up the next song - I think you have hit upon something that most people have forgotten all about.
Check your email some time.
whenever I gave thsoe out I usually got dumped about 2 weeks later.
guess I should have left out nin's closer and nirvana's rape me
Mixed CD just doesn't seem the same b/c it's so easy to do.
Wavs: I don't what made me think of this the other day, but it brought a smile to my face and certainly took me back to high school. Yes, they did take forever! (Totally worth the effort though)
Allen: well, that's not right. Want me to go and kick their butts for ya? Tell them how wrong they were?
I once received a mixed tape with a lot of The Butthole Surfers, The Clash, Dead Kennedys...and who knows what else. Needless to say that was my intro to punk and the start of my grungeness.
Brainhell: your right, but it's still a nice gesture. Still says I was thinking about you and I kinda like ya.
Pussycat: lovin' the quote! You said it exactly!
